Tell Me Thursday - "Sharing"

The story behind the Wordless Wednesday picture.....
ABW is queen of "free." She has to be, with her husband, Gunner, on a military paycheck and her attending school. While Gunner was off in Iraq, ABW took advantage of free tickets to the Baseball game. There were also free tickets.... one for a bag of popcorn, one for a beer, and one for a snow cone. After sharing a bag of popcorn, the three children shared a snow cone. Abs found the most expedient way to do this, was to give Junior a straw while she attacked it from the other side. They both had to give it up to Em occasionally. The whole effort required a certain amount of cooperation. Abs also found she could control the flow in the straw by moving it up, just out of the liquid or pinching the straw. Junior could really get loud when he felt he wasn't getting his share.

Quilts for Soldiers

Since I didn't get back in town in time to post this photo for Wordless Wednesday, I will post the story with the photo.

Our quilting group has made over 200 lap quilts to be presented to wounded military in rehab at Brooks and Ft. Hood. Most of our members have some present or past connection with the military and craft the quilts with prayer and concern for the intended recipients. Funds for the project came from our members originally, then grew with donations from friends, family, and the community.

We rarely hear where the quilts go, but the few stories we do hear renew our resolve as we cut, pin, sew, and pack our appreciation along with the quilts, in specially made bags for presentation to one of our military. If you know of someone who has received one of our specially marked quilts, we would love to hear her /his story or enjoy a visit.
