There are many things to shop for in Seoul, Korea, but this day I stopped to peruse a street vendor's stand near the park. Note the 2 silver-colored pots on the right hand side of the stand in the first photo, then follow as I inspect the contents more closely. I did not try this delicacy, but by the number of empty shells in the area, I would think it was a popular snack.

I still remember the smells of the orient. At one dinner they had a large platter of toasted almonds, or so I thought. They turned out to be roasted crickets. In another meal we had chunks of chocolate for desert, it tasted a little funny and turned out to have ants within 2 layers of chocolate. Some times you must enjoy the local fare and not worry about it. After a while one could eat from the local food carts on the street. We called the Floasting Howard Johnson's.
ReplyDeleteWhat are they?
ReplyDeleteThey are snails and clams...apparently boiled.
ReplyDeleteWhoops...it has been a while.....On closer inspection, the darker colored one is some kind of beatle, I think. If you click on the photo, it should enlarge.
ReplyDeleteI can eat almost anything--besides celery--but I think I would have to pass on these. Might be too many WW points! LOL
