A friend of mine, now dead, lived in Victoria, BC, Canada and got a lot of driftwood from the ocean and used most of it to carve some marvelous things. It never failed to make an impression on me.
He would try to use the knots and roots from trees that fell into the ocean somewhere in the world.
This was photographed outside the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas. Unfortunately, I did not take the time to get the artist's name but it is strikingly similar to the work of Heather Jansch (http://www.pjlighthouse.com/2007/02/23/amazing-driftwood-horses-art-by-heather-jansch/) I thought it was delightful and very unusual.
Oh that is not odd .. its lovely and very clever ..

It should be on the shore - somehow that is what it says to me.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm Odd.
Those are large pieces of driftwood, and yes, clever indeed!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful little thing. Very creative.
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely.
ReplyDeleteI really like this but then I love horses anyway. It must have taken ages to collect all the driftwood.

I never saw a horse made from collected pieces.
